Materials & Standards

We use BBA-approved materials as part of our installs which means key products and systems have been independently assessed and certified for performance and suitability in UK construction. (In simple terms: it’s an extra layer of reassurance that the materials are proven, not “cheap and cheerful”.)

Where a job is notifiable under Building Regulations (for example, larger-scale re-roofing rather than small repairs), we’re experienced working alongside Building Control and can guide you through what’s required so everything is done properly and documented. Planning Portal notes that work to an existing roof doesn’t normally need Building Control if less than 25% of the building envelope is affected and less than 50% of the roof is affected but approval may be needed outside those limits.

Our Promises To You

N

Your Home is Our Home

We pride ourselves on our core business ethos. We treat every job like we are working on our own home. Giving you the best care.

N

Insured, Professional and Reliable

Our business name is as important to us as our family name, and we aim to ensure your complete satisfaction! Unfortunately, we cannot control the weather! Rain and wind can cause delays.

N

A Cleaner and Greener

We don’t use skips. All waste is removed and disposed of in line with recycling and disposal legislation — keeping things tidier on site and reducing unnecessary mess outside your home.

Heritage work and older properties

We’re also highly experienced in heritage roofing. With older homes and especially listed buildings or properties in conservation areas the approach is usually about respecting the original materials, details, and character. In some cases, permissions can be needed if you’re changing the design or materials, so we’ll advise carefully and help you make the right call before work starts.

Debbie

Roof Replacement

"I can’t speak high enough of John and his son, Anthony. My 101 year old Mum had water coming in through her kitchen ceiling following a recent storm and my friend recommended these guys having used them extensively in the past. They came out and gave a quote. However, once they started the job it quickly became apparent that the job was a lot bigger than first anticipated thanks to some previous workmanship resulting in the wall not even being attached to the house!! The job was completed today and I’m over the moon with the result. Would not hesitate to recommend for any roofing jobs."

Laura

Window Fitting

"John and his team were great, John came out promptly and looked at the job in hand and provided a quote in a timely manner, once we booked the job he kept in contact to come out and fully measure up and then organised the window install, john kept me updated all the way through and as soon as the window was made and ready organised a date to complete the job ,John and his team were lovely and very professional, really great job completed and they tidied up everything after, we would definitely use them again "

Richard

New Roof

"We knew from the very first conversation with the lady in the office that this would be a great firm to deal with. We were given an appointment for a quote and Anthony turned up bang on time as agreed. We agreed the cost and timing straight away. This is a family business & John & Anthony were fantastic to deal with. You can really tell that they care about their work & have great attention to detail. Their team of roofers were a great bunch of guys & they tidied up afterwards. Highly recommended. Wouldn’t hesitate to use them again."

New Roof Installations FAQ’s

What’s the biggest challenge with new roof installations?

The biggest challenge is doing the job safely and properly while the weather does what it wants. Roofing is exposed work, and conditions affect both safety and quality.

Common challenges include:

Wind and rain – makes surfaces slippery and unsafe, and can stop us stripping sections of roof until we can keep everything watertight.

Cold temperatures – some materials and adhesives don’t perform the same in freezing conditions.

Heat – can affect certain membranes and also increases fatigue risk for the team working at height.

Short winter days – less daylight can reduce safe working time.

A professional roofing company takes these factors into account when planning their work. For a new roof installation, that normally means:

  • staging the work so the property is never left exposed
  • using the right protection and coverings where needed
  • working to a realistic schedule (instead of rushing to “beat the weather”)
  • keeping you updated if the forecast forces a change in plan

If we need to pause for weather, it’s not us being difficult — it’s us protecting your home and making sure the finished roof performs the way it should.

Do you use sub-contractors?

For the vast majority of new roof installations, we use our own team, because consistency matters the same standards, the same methods, and the same attention to detail on every job.

That said, some parts of a project can involve specialist trades (for example, scaffolding, or certain building works if they sit alongside the roof). If that’s ever needed, we only use trusted local specialists we know, and the job is still managed and quality-checked by Windsor Roofing. You won’t be left wondering who’s turning up or who’s responsible for what.

Will there be any hidden costs added to my final balance?

This is a fair question and it’s one of the biggest reasons people lose trust in roofing as a trade.

Our approach is simple: we price properly from the start, and we keep things transparent. Your quote should make it clear what’s included and what isn’t, so you can compare like-for-like and budget with confidence.

That said, roofing can sometimes uncover issues you can’t see until the old materials are removed, such as:

  • rotten or damaged timbers
  • previously bodged repair
  • hidden water damage
  • chimney/leadwork issues that were masked by old coverings
  • problems with ventilation or structural movement

If we find something like that, we don’t just crack on and bill you after. We’ll:

  1. Show you what we’ve found (photos where helpful)
  2. Explain the options in plain English
  3. Provide a clear price for the extra work before anything goes ahead

No surprise invoices. No “we had to do it” pressure. Just an honest conversation and a clear paper trail so you stay in control of the spend.
